It may be time for some to end reign of Windows 7...

Not me. Its too early to make that decision. I will wait for the final release and then continue to dual boot with Win 7 until I see that all my drivers and software work with Windows 8. A lot of vendors will be updating their drivers and software as we get closer to release. I don't want to run Windows 7 drivers but I want Windows 8 tested drivers and software.

Jim
I actually used the Windows 7 Release Candidate as my main OS when it came out... why not let history repeat itself? :)

I'm kind of excited, I think I might not need to virtualize programs anymore in a 32 bit Windows 7 environment anymore! I got the only reason to keep my VM of 7, GTA Vice City, working on the Release Preview! Although, I want a startup sound for Windows 8. I tried enabling it, it doesn't go anymore in 8. Shucks, since I have a glorious startup sound that my VM just made...

Jimbo,
How did you get Spider Software working. I play it all the time.

Spider solitaire works but that's the only one I've been able to get working -- and I also will need the language packs that were available with 7 -- still a lot of them missing for W8.

Jim

Hi there
just copy spider.exe from an XP disk -- it runs fine like that.

here's the file if you don't have the XP disk --rename .zip to .exe No install needed -- can run from
USB or whatever
Cheers
jimbo

Wait, for Windows RT on ARM tablets?

No, the Metro enviroment on all Windows 8 systems.

Oh, I see. Chrome is coming soon, but not metro immersive on WinRT. Do those other programs not work in 8?

PowerDVD is coming to Metro RT. I don't know if it will have bluray though... Just that I think it would be slightly better for it to launch directly instead of in Desktop.

Media Browser is currently a plugin for Windows Media Center that is better at organizing videos. They're currently working on porting it, but I don't know if it will be done.

My main computer is a HTPC connected to the upstairs tv, and I intend to build a second HTPC for the downstairs TV. I have WMC configured so it's cleared of rubbish and easy to use by my family (while protecting my stuff), and I will only switch to Windows 8 if I can configure it so it's as easy to use as my current setup.
