Yes - I think so, I don't recall if I ever tried it for Chipset drivers.

I probably did at one time - or perhaps it's predecessor Driver Sweeper





The screen shot came from the trexxy site - it shows Premium.
The free version doesn't' have all the bells and whistles (monitor, auto update...)
but it will clean up manually.

I think you already found this, but I'll post a link in case anyone else wants to download the ad-free installer.

I was curious when you said you i grabbed the add free version from there forum, so I poked around trexxy.com
I saw a link, ad-supported installer, on the regular download page and investigated. The page describes Third party offers made by the ad supported installer.

well i got my answer from technet it seams that syrep does not work in windows 8.1, this is from a article over there about sysrep, In Windows 8.1, the Sysprep user interface is deprecated.

Please show me one TechNet article which says that Sysprep does not work in Windows 8.1! I hope the possible readers of this thread ignore this totally nonsense, untrue and invalid comment.

Sysprep works extremely well in Windows 8.1. The Sysprep GUI (Sysprep dialog, see screenshot below) is deprecated, not disabled; it will no longer be updated and upgraded but is still included in Windows 8, 8.1 and even in Windows 10:

The Sysprep GUI can only do three things and can't handle answer files as it can when run from command line:

1. Restart computer in Audit Mode
2. Restart computer in OOBE mode
3. Restart computer in OOBE mode generalizing the installation (removing all hardware specific elements)

Even if the GUI would no longer exist, the same three things coul easily be done with Sysprep from command line:

1. sysprep.exe /audit /reboot

2. sysprep.exe /oobe /reboot

3. sysprep.exe /generalize /oobe /reboot

Sysprep is an important native Windows tool. You can be quite sure it will continue to work, even in future versions of Windows.

oh i took the thing to mean it did not work im my case i don't think it will as i no for sure it was a upgrade on the store and not clean install, not sure why the key is gone but it is and i never did anything to it,my win 8 was a upgrade and then i did the update to win 8.1. i suppose i could try it but i heare if it fails you need to do a clean install.

I do not understand this:

UM i may have a issue here my upgrade in regedit has nothing in it but two downlevelbuildnumber and defualt nothing else , very strange as it is windows 8.1 i did from microsoft threw the store when they came out with it, i dont understand so what can i do ???

If and when Windows is upgraded, you'll find those registry entries in Windows registry. In order to be able to upgrade these must be edited.

If you delete the UPGRADE key shown and selected in your screenshot (left pane), then go back one step to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup selecting itand delete the DWORD Upgrade in right pane (your screenshot shows you are one step too deep to see it), and finally check that both of the DWORD values shown in the below screenshot are 7, you should be able to run Sysprep:

Exactly as I already told in this post. If Sysprep fails now, the reason is not the upgrade but something else.

Awesome i did go and look at the other values one was set at 2 so if i change that i should be good to then, now do i need to delete the upgrade Key as it has nothing it it as you can see? Also what are the advantages of using sysrep like this any drawbacks?

Please follow the instructions given! I do not suggest you to do something just for fun of it. Of course, the PC is yours so it's totally up to you to decide if you will follow the instructions as they are given, or decide that not all steps told to you are important.

This might come out as bragging now but I am really serious: I, as most of the geeks I know here and on our sister sites might sometimes advice to do something just to be sure but which might or might not be necessary, based on our own real experience. I know Sysprep, I have told you the process as I have learned it and which I know for sure to work.

But, as I mentioned, it's your PC. You alone can decide if the advice given and the steps told are necessary and if you are willing to follow the instructions as they were given or if you choose to ignore some parts of them.

Remember to backup your personal data before Sysprepping! Sysprep is really stable and reliable tool but if something goes wrong, a reinstall might be needed. Thinking of your difficulties in your process I really think backup is a good idea.
