Solved IE 11 tools issue

No, the bar below should be removed, not the actual method to do searches. The one that says eightforums while reading this should be the one you use and keep. You use that to look up things, or to find websites. you can type anything you want in there.

Also, my post above has been updated.

Gotcha. Yes i have CCleaner but don't use very offen. I tried installing avast, but it wouldn't open, some dll was missing. So i figured i'd uninstall and then reinstall and now i have this for about 10 mins

avast.jpgavast.jpgThis is become ridiculous. Might just need to dump it all, and reinstall. I did a clean install of win 8 to a new SSD, figured i was doing the right thing. Maybe not ready for this 8.1 beta stuff.

No no, it is just that some of your problems are showing through suddenly.

8.1 is out of beta. You should, however, have the proper drivers installed for it though. I didn't see that as a problem because your symptoms didn't seem to match, but if you are worried about it, go to your computer manufacturer's website to install the newest drivers for 8.1. You may not be able to if installations on your machine are being prevented.

I want to stress that registry cleaners can be dangerous, and shouldn't be used. Ccleaner is the best one I've encountered, however, and it does more than just clean the registry. So if you know very well what you are doing when you clean your registry, use that program over any other. But I still think it may be too dangerous to use, but I leave it to you. The registry will never become such a problem that you are forced to clean it. The benefit is minimal, but the cost of failure may be your OS installation

I've asked for extra help, so it isn't a lost cause. If at any time you decide you would like to reinstall or repair install due to time constraints, feel free, and I can post tutorials on how. But I have all the time in the world to help you, so I won't give up if you don't, unless I run out of ideas

Looks like some new problems are popping up, so I may have more ideas, but it will take time :)
Talk to you in a bit, I've got some real life stuff to do before I can post back again

I'll try to help.

Maybe running SFC & DISM might help.

Here they are in a batch file.
Download it & right click it & click Properties & Unblock it.
Then right click it & choose Run as administrator.
Both scans might take 2 hours to finish.
Keep an eye on them.
When DISM finishes you need to press any key for SFC to start.
DISM hangs on 20% for a long time.
Be patient.

Hey mate,
Got some response from people and I'm ready to take a second (or third?) shot at this. I plan to list this out in 2 sections: Optional and Recommended - this will give you more choice in which action you take. These may take time, and I will be going over previous items to ensure everything was covered. Hop-two-three-four!

OPTIONAL: you might consider doing this - benefits:
1. Remove 8GadgetPack - Your CPU monitor is included in win8 in TaskManager's Performance tab, so as far as I can tell, the program isn't needed. This feature was recommended to be disabled by Microsoft because of a major security flaw. I do not know how this app functions with windows and whether or not it has such a flaw at the moment
2. Remove 123copydvdplatinum / imgburn / vso convertxtodvd - Don't they do the same thing? you can burn CDs/DVDs within windows as an fyi. Did you need a specific feature of each of these programs? I would be very careful with the use of these.
3. BlueStacks App Player / Notification Center - What are they? If they have to do with apps on your computer, are they really necessary?
4. Remove Ccleaner - Not important to have, and dangerous (though less than some) if you remove something you shouldn't. Usually it is pretty good at suggesting issues that do not hurt your computer, but extreme caution still needs to be exercised if kept
5. Remove Java - Most applications do not require java to run. It is also a security risk on your computer. If you need it, keep it. If not, take it out
6. Remove pdf995 - if you have adobe reader installed, do you need this app installed that is much less known, and therefore more risky?

RECOMMENDED: If I were you, this would be top priority:
1. REMOVE: google toolbar for IE, Driver Booster, LastPass, Registry Recycler, RoboForm, TAP-Windows - From what I can tell, these do not help, and if anything, will slow down or hinder the functionality of your computer. From what I can tell means that I looked them up, and what I saw was not cool. I know about google toolbar personally - Explanation: you can search without the google toolbar, any driver updates should be done manually instead of through 3rd party applications, bad registry program, IE remembers passwords and you don't need a program for that, what in the blazes is TAP-WINDOWS?
2. Update all programs that you keep on your computer to the latest versions. Ususally you can update them from the 'help' dropdown menu within the program.
3. DISABLE any java add-on for all browsers. It is a security risk condemned by the US government. Only enable as needed, or disable/remove the add-on (different than the actual program listed in OPTIONAL)
4. More to come about fixes for your computer, but I wanted to post this up so you can begin

Alrighty,

use the SFC scan via this tutorial: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html

You can disable and then enable IE to see if it helps at all. You will have to restart after turning off, and then after turning back on: Install or uninstall Internet Explorer - Microsoft Windows

We tried it, but it may be worth going over again :)
Go ahead and try the SFC scans again. In addition, use your spybot search/destroy to scan your computer after updating it. I would consider your computer free of malware after that, but someone else may have a suggestion.

The things that are left - consider malware broke something, or consider an installed program broke something. A broken registry is too difficult to repair with my skills.

Ensure that ALL IE add-ons except adobe are disabled, until we can find the problem. UNINSTALL any toolbar. If avast attempts to enable its add-on, disable it. You do not need it right now. Reset IE again.. using the words of the good Capt. Jack:
Next steps which used to fix almost all the issues with Internet Explorer is to reset the Intenet explorer to Default Settings
1. Close any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that
are currently open.
2. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button ,
and then clicking Internet Explorer.
3. Click the Tools button, and then
click Internet Options.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click
Reset.
5. Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would like to
remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, and
InPrivate Filtering data. [Me: - actually checking this box fixed an issue for me, but removes everything stated here]
6. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog
box, click Reset.
7. When Internet Explorer finishes applying default
settings, click Close, and then click OK.
8. Close Internet
Explorer.

Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet
Explorer.

Don't give up! Follow these posts exactly, and please please don't skip anything. Sometimes when you install free programs off the internet, malware or PUPs are included. These will bog down your system and sometimes prevent things from functioning. In addition, cheaply made applications, such as registry cleaners, can do even more damage by reaching deep into the bowels of your computer and cutting out what they perceive to be a bad spot. To continue the analogy, either they do not patch up their work, or they cut the wrong part, causing internal damage. Bad for computer lives all around us.

This is the part I personally hate because it takes loads of time... To test applications to see whether they conflicting or not, follow this tutorial: Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup - Windows 7 Help Forums

This is different than a refresh, which did not work for you. First, restart your computer. If it still has problems, consider repairing.
Read the tutorial to make sure you know what it does before you begin: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/26095-repair-install-windows-8-a.html

Failing that, I would strongly urge a complete reinstall, after saving all important files, favorites, etc.

If you want a clean, smoothly running computer, only install trusted applications. Need to watch movies? VLC player works great! Some of the items you have are somewhat questionable, especially concerning media. If ever you would like program suggestions for a need, or do not know about a program, don't hesitate to ask on any forum -------------------------------------------------------------------
Sevenforums - Eightforums

Stay safe! Keep all drivers, programs, and windows updated. Is your motherboard a Gigabyte Z87-D3HP? This is where you'll want to go for drivers: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-Z87-D3HP (rev. 1.x)

Hopefully I managed to help you some. I'd be happy to answer as well as I can any question you pose. I don't mean to burn you out, this is quite a bit :D

Also, I'm getting sleepy. Whenever that happens, I become hard to understand lol

Hi guys
Removed all that was recommended. Most of which said it wasn't there anyway, which i thought was weird. Basically if you look at the picture above you'll see the icons next to the items are a generic symbol, same as firefox when it is opened, the icon in the taskbar is the generic symbol. I ran the dism/sfc and i will include the picture i got with it.
I can't open internet tools in ie had to go thru the control panel, but did as you said. Also disable EVER ad-on in ie and firefox. Ran spybot after re downloading it as it wouldn't open and found 13 things to get rid of. I had to restart to get rid of the last one and it is working on it now. Will post again after spybot finished and include picture of sfc...
Thanks again

Now that we got it clean i am trying the refresh again. Something that MIGHT be important, When i restarted the computer after the spybot run, it asked do i want to open windows 8.1 or 7? I forgot that i installed a new SSD in the computer and installed 8 on it, but 7 is still on the old "c" drive which is now d. It is in a folder i created called "old computer".
Is this a potential problem?

Thanks

Hi hog1340,

You seem to have a large number of problems with this machine. Let's have a look at the Event Logs and see exactly whats being reported.

Download the attached file, Collect.bat > Right click the file and select Run as Administrator. This will create a Folder on the Desktop called Logs. You will need to right click the folder and select Send To > Compressed Folder. Please attach the folder to your next post.

Yes this is a problem. For the time being, disconnect or remove any additional drives. We only need to focus on the drive which contains the Operating System we are trying to fix. I can already see looking through the SFC log it has replaced files for the C: & D: drive. After you disconnect the extra drive download & run the attached file as Administrator.

Make sure you restart your computer after the scans have finished.
