I messed up badly!

If you want to dual boot Windows and Linux:
  1. Pre-partition and format your HDD first (to prevent the Windows System Reserved partition form being created).
  2. Install Windows (don't let it repartition your HDD)
  3. Install Linux
This method has always worked for me.

So you were only able to access the Drive when UbuntU was installed? Ya may have to put that back in to finish moving your files.
