I've been using Hyper-V since Win-8 launch day. I run a Windows 2008 SQL Server VM for app development support, as well as an XP Machine and a couple Linux machines for various testing purposes.
This has all been working great until this weekend. The Win 8 machine lost its network connection, and after more than a day of troubleshooting what the issue was, I figured out that un-installing Hyper-V fixed the problem. I've now since narrowed that down to the Virtual switch.
If the virtual switch is set to External, no network access for either host or VMs. If I change to Internal or Private, the Host can access the network (of course the VMs cant)
Nothing has changed as (except a new router that I bought before I figured out it was HyperV) that would affect the network configuration of my system as far as I can tell.
I desparately need to start getting some work done, but my work depends on an internet connection and my VMs! My next step will be to reinstall windows, but I REALLY don't want to do that!
Thanks in advance for any useful advice.
