How many use W8 CP as their main OS?

Very much looking forward to either a new official build or a leaked one, just to see where they are going with this.

Other than that it's been way more stable for me compared to Windows 7, especially when gaming.

So you must have a problem in your Windows 7 PC, mine is stable as rock

Same PC, Windows 8 is just more stable with this particular motherboard for some reason. Windows 7 would freeze up sometimes, but only when playing certain video's. This never happens with Windows 8. All my other Windows 7 machines seem fine in this regard.

Msoft changed the audio stack in Windows 7 to prevent errant audio bytes from causing crashes. I believe they changed something in Windows 8 to prevent graphics driven crashes or freeze ups because it's definately working better for me on this machine.

Did your G15 keyboard cause any issues for you? It certainly did with this machine, I had to mess with the HID drivers to get this keyboard to work right with Windows 8.

I read somewhere that using this CP could corrupt your files. Is that true? Sound like BS. But want to be sure. Don't want to risk losing files, before I have the chance to do my monthly backup procedure

Also, will the RC be released to the public?

I've been using the Windows 8 since the Developer Preview back in September and now the Consumer Preview. Yes, I have been running them as my main OS. The only way to get a good feel for a new operating system is to make it your main OS so you can get into the nitty-gritty of it. I also have 7 dual booted, I'm not that insane.

Never heard of Win8 corrupting any files.

As long as you have your personal files/data in a separate partition when you install Win8 you won't loose anything.

You can also make a separate partition to install Win8 in, leave your Win7 install intact for a while so you can transfer any files you may need. This is Dual booting, you can boot up either OS.

The RC is usually released to the public, haven't heard anything different for Win8.

hi all since installing windows 8 as my Main system..since feb 29

this much has happened..

good things

1. fast bootup and shutdown..love it
2. explorer is good for copying and moving files..love that
3. uummmm ummmm..

bad things

1. lots of programs not running well in w8 especially anti virus, benchmarking etc..ok its beta so we will have to see
2. metro ..wats that .i use it only when i get tired of the desktop interface..not really practical for a desktop pc
3. internet explorer metro interface is not working and all its links on the metro..i understand u must make internet explorer the default .. i use google chrome a lot???

4.where is the start button..i need to find those seldom to use program quickly...dont want it on my taskbar or desktop alas i have to go to metro..hahhaah

5.i place my taskbar at the top now..this is so as to left hand bottom click easily to go metro..bummer
6.and where is the shutdown button..u would think it would be everywhere a big red button..noooo

7. more to come thats life

in conclusion ...its w7 without the start button ...and a little metro if u like..seems u get dump to desktop from the metro interface quite often too ..

I would, except there will be no upgrade path from CP to RTM. Sticking to dual boot because of that, trying to use 8 whenever possible. Using dropbox to keep files synchronized between 7 and 8.

I wanted to use it as the main OS on my netbook, but my school has a programme to set up the university wifi network and it doesn't work with W8.
