Hello, good people. I'm new to these forums and Windows 8, and I'm glad there are kind souls out there to help.
Yuh see, I bought this new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4310. There's a description of the laptop here - the laptop comes with a "DVD-SuperMulti drive (+/-R double layer)" and I have identified the name of this drive as TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-U633J. I was having a problem with this drive, as when I put a DVD in the drive, it would spin and make a repetitive noise like it was trying to read the same spot of something over and over. It would not recognize the DVD. I tried multiple DVDs, all with the same result.
I figured I would check the driver, so I went to the Device Manager and found it under "DVD/CD-ROM Drives". I tried to update the driver by searching online, and it said it had the latest and best driver already installed: "CD-ROM Drive". No wonder it's not playing DVDs! I tried uninstalling the drive and restarting my computer so it recognized a new device and installed a driver for it, but that fixed nothing.
I know this device MUST be a DVD drive. Just look at the name of the drive, it has "DVD" in it! :thumb:
Apparently this is the driver. But I downloaded it, and it unzipped and stuff, and then, I just kinda, didn't understand anything after that, hahaha.
How can I watch Pink Floyd's "The Wall" when Windows is acting like a doofus!
Well, thank you for any advice you can give me. I'm, I'm not sure what this "Trashback" thing down here is, so I'm just gonna kinda leave it blank and see how that turns out.
