It's not 3rd party. It's part of the motherboard. Fixing things doesn't entail making features you pay for not work.
yes it's third party , it's not an Intel chips, only the marketing department push the engineering to include them on the motherboard, it's crap . On Asus ROG forum we usually never connect anything on non Intel Controller and we deactivate them in the BIOS. If I don't use it I don't use it.
Sounds like the ASUS forum could use a little tweaking in their systems, especially if they like to overclock.
Overclocking has negative effects on the Intel, while the J-Micron is not affected. It's no crap either:
