I was trying to install Chrome 64 bit which would not open (installation package) when I searched and found this answer. I have an issue with Chrome Stable just stopped working on my computer. It won't open, it just crashes. I tried every "fix" out there. I did install Chrome in Canary which worked but I wanted to find out why Chrome just crashed. Nothing I did worked, system restore, etc etc etc. I downloaded the Chrome 64 bit and couldn't install that either. BUT IN USING THIS FIX....NOW MY CHROME STABLE IS WORKING AGAIN. I am so excited. Been working on this for days. Genius!!! Thanks so much!!!! Hope this helps all the others out there with this issue!
Oh one addition, in the instructions you have: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Google\Update I had to go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Google\Update\Clients I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Thanks again!
