I have dual boot system, Win 7/8.1. I have auto power on at a designated time every morning. It worked properly if I powered off the PC from Windows 7. But, if I powered off the PC from Win 8 it would not auto power on.
The problem turned to be the Windows fast startup option. After unchecking that option (see screen capture below), the PC will auto start when powered off from Win 8.

Normally this PC, which is my recording studio PC, runs Win 7. Occasionally I would run Win 8 as the last thing before it was powered down for the night.
I'm posting this just for anyone that has experienced the same problem and didn't know how to correct it.
