Documenting my new build - Advices ?

after all it's better to spend more money one time then rebuild a system every 2 years or so.
Not sure I completely agree. Let's say you build a computer for $2800 today. Let's say it lasts 4 years. If instead, you build a computer for $1,200 today, then invested the remaining $1,600 for 2 years and then build a new computer in 2 years for another $1,200...you might only have $2400 in the 2 computers at the end of 4 years, and you have 2 full system, and potentially some investment income from that money that you saved on day 1.

I have to agree that your math makes sense !

I strongly recommend the "all-in-one" liquid cooling unit for the CPU. They are inexpensive, efficient and take little room in the case. Most have 1 or 2 120mm fans to cool the liquid flowing through the radiator and a high quality fan will be quiet. From a dust perspective, the air coolers with their huge heatsink "towers" and attached fans really just gather dust and become inefficient in short order, especially in an environment where there are pets and carpeting. Since most people keep their tower case on the floor, the fans pulling cooler air into the case also tend to pull in pet hair, dander, dust, etc... With a liquid cooler, you still need to pull air into the case, but you have les surface for the dust to cling to as you don't have a huge heatsink/fan assy on the CPU.

I'm impressed already, only by seeing the specs Vlad.
No much I can add for now.

32GB RAM is enough I guess. It's the best choice for VM's.
I've read the post about the graphics... 6GB for a thousand and whoo dollars!!
Anyway try to get a pretty decent one to cope with the rest of the specs but it doesn't have to be that expensive unless you're willing to get an ultimate build.

Good luck in finding the needed parts. :)

Dual GPU cards are out of question for me because of insane princing here.I'll probably end up with 2x 7950, because I already have one 7950 in my current build and I think that my system is botlenecking it a bit. So getting a mid-range card to substitute the 7950 in my current rig and a new 7950 for the new build may be a good deal.
Core i7 3930k ordered !

Now I'm thinking about the RAM...

What do you think is better, considering that the price is very similar?

4x8GB G.Skill Sniper 2133 MHz CL10 (PC 17100)

Today I ordered 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866 MHz CL9.

Surely I will. The CPU was supposed to arrive last friday. I think that the holyday slowed things down. Memory will be here probably until thrusday or friday. Can't wait to have all parts together.

~Looking forward~

Next part to be ordered in second half of april will be the MoBo. My first thought was Asus Rampage IV Formula, but I'm considering ASRock X79 Extreme9. Their specs and prices are similar.

ASRock X79 Extreme9 (Newegg): US$ 349,00 (baseline)
ASRock X79 Extreme9 (ML Brasil): R$ 1050,00 (+48%)

Asus Rampage IV Formula (Newegg): US$ 369,00 (baseline)
Asus Rampage IV Formula (ML Brasil): US$ 1175,00 (+52%)

It would be nice if I could buy from Newegg without paying Delivery Duty (DDP). That huge tax (50-60%) summed to portage costs would make those boards as expensive as US$ 569,00 (R$ 1190,00) and US$ 599,00 (R$ 1260,00) respectively, more expensive than here.

So I kind of want to add onto this thread as it's somewhat relevant, I think I'm at the conclusion of GENUINELY constructing the physical case of my puter this year my bloody self. I got to that point as it would be more time consuming and more pricier to buy an old Dell XPS 600 case (they go for around 100-150 dollars) and modify that to my liking. It might actually be better to get a giant flat piece of metal and fabricate it as I have specific needs and a specific design.

Good idea, but a matter of economics of course. Make a drawing of your specified case, decide what sheet material to make it out of, perhaps purchase that, and take it to a local HVAC/sheet metal shop with a heavy duty break to have the parts bent. A guy or gal that knows a break should be able to do it in less than an hour, but will most likely charge a minimum. Get a quote. Add it all up and see what you have.

Laugh if you will, but I plan on making mine out of a rare wood. A small cabinet so to speak. It'll be ornate like the old time tabletop radios. :)

I was thinking about building my own case but my skills aren't in that area, so I bought the Corsair 650D, which is a good, base platform to work from and I can modify whatever I need. I'm using it because it's sturdy, roomy and great for cooling (at least for me). I've seen some fantastic homemade cases, but I'm just not that mechanical... maybe for my next build... Good luck with yours!

I'm not familiar with ASRock, as I've never used one of their motherbpards, but I've been extremely impressed with the ASUS boards I've used recently. They have all been Z77-1155-based boards, though.
