Laptop details:
Lenovo z500; Intel (R) Core(TM) i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20 GHz; RAM - 6 GB; NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M
I have been having this issue since January. I started getting an error "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered - Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version xxx.xx stopped responding and has successfully recovered"View attachment 66311 This would eventually lead onto a BSOD - VIDEO TDR FAILURE (nvlddmkm.sys). I had windows 8.1 when this issue started. This would always occur when some graphic stress was placed on the laptop. Tried installing new graphic card drivers, clean installation of new drivers. I just worked around this by disabling my graphic card, and just used my laptop, as I couldn't let my laptop keep crashing (laptop needed for uni work). Sometimes after a bsod, my laptop wouldn't even turn on, it would just get another bsod (sometimes also got a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION) and would just keep rebooting. The only way I could work around this was to start it in safe mode and disable the graphic card.
Then when the update to Win 10 came out, I updated it. Thought maybe installing win 10 would solve this problem, but it didn't. Same problem still persisted. Now I have inserted a new hard disk and have done a clean installation of windows. First I did a clean installation of windows 10, same problem. Then I did a clean installation of windows 8.1 (on the new hard drive). Still the issue persists, even though the graphic card driver reverted back to the original one that came with my laptop when I bought it. Tried doing a clean installation of the latest driver, no help. My laptop is currently on windows 8.1 on the new hard drive. Have attached the zip file of bsod dump.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need more clarification or information.
Thanks!
EDIT - Not sure if I should post this in Windows 10 bsod or windows 8.1 bsod. Will do in both.
