WOW!! that's pretty hard :( I lost a big chunk of my hearing when I was in the military. Tanks are very loud and unforgiving on the ears, my sight is just down to old eyeballs and only started to go a few years back. It's annoying me and I have considered laser correction but that is very expensive here.

For me, typical teenager with the loud music started it and as a little kid being on the navy base with my dad. My golly those jets were LOUD. My vision was from my own stupidity staring into the sun, then age is setting in. I've wanted to do laser as well but likewise, the dollars just aren't there.

Funny thing is for everything I've done in my life I'm sure that computers will eventually become my death bed. Let's face the facts, even with all the advances in technology, plastics and PCBs are still just as dangerous to handle as they were back then. Working as an Hazardous Household Waste / E-Waste / scrap recycler, I've came across materials that we aren't even suppose to even be exposed to.

It surprises me that while talking to a Western Digital Ex-Employee at how much goes into those little drives and just how clean the work floor is. Heck we know hospitals are clean but where our electronics come from are spotless. What shocked me the most is that a speck of dust for a hard drive is like dooms day to us.

And on a random note. I'm addicted to the smell of brand new electronics. hehe...

Yes the Jets are loud I remember as a kid standing near to a Harrier as it did its vertical take off and land bit, very exciting though :) I never thought about the families aspect of this as Tank noise is very localised unless of course we were firing but then we were well away from others.

Now that makes two of us :D

I believe you funny thought tho I think this job may actually appeal to me ............ all those lovely electronics:geek:

Oh my gosh... I must be rather CDO because I would literally have nothing undiscovered on MY hard drives.

Hmm, I don't think I would have anything shocking that I forgot about, maybe rediscovering a PowerPoint from a year or two ago that has been said that it's a PowerPoint from Heaven.

Talking about shocking, run a hard drive recovery. THAT will find some shocking results. Gee willakers! How does some of that stuff even get on a hard drive?!

I find it rather amusing that we all have something that we've hung on to either be it photos in pooch's case or a random stack of HDD's in zigzag's case. I hope that things will always find their place and won't grow cobwebs over time in my new machines.

I also have a homebuilt PC running Linux AMD Athlon II 64, Jetway MB LinuxMint 9 (isadora) GNOME Built with a new case and motherboard, Recycled hard and optical drives for under $300.
