I was messing with imageres.dll and shell32.dll and eventually those files got corrupted and now Windows wont start (blinking black screen). Ive fixed this other times it has happened from advanced options at boot with the Refresh your PC option except that this time I cant because I get the following error:
I tried Automatic Repair, but it doesnt recognize the problem. I also dont have any system restore point. Safe mode doesnt work.
Im thinking my last resource here is on the command prompt, which I can open from advanced options. I attempted
sfc /scannow
and got
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows
and it got stuck.
Im getting really nervous because I simply cant lose the files I have in this computer!!!
I was thinking maybe there is a command I can write on cmd that allows me to explore files among my documents and remove them so I can free some space and do the refresh option???
Additional free space is needed on the drive where Windows is installed. Free up some space and try again.
