I recently switched over from Mac to my Windows 8 PC and just now I noticed that it says I have only 12.7GB Free, but my D drive has 764. So can I not use all my memory on this PC? How can I use this memory?
This is space not memory. Create folders on D:\ for your music, pictures and movies, move it all there, then make shortcuts in your librarys to include those folder locations.
You are better off adapting to a two partition setup. The data drive is where all your stuff is kept, this lets the operating system and programs work faster. Also helps with your backup strategy... separates system from stuffs...
Can I at least make the C drive larger and D drive smaller? Or should I not mess with it at all? My programs will take up a lot more than my photos and music will....
Show us a screenshot of your Disk Management screen, from there you can add space to the C drive possibly...right clik on Computer, select Manage, then Disk Management...
You should be able to right clik on the d drive and shrink the volume by the size you want to add to the C drive, it will become 'unallocated' space, then you can expand C.
Thank you.I am doing a backup now just in case something happens to the C drive so when it finishes I will shrink the D drive and expand the C drive. If that fixes it I will mark as solved. Thank you again!
So I used Minitool Partition Wizard and gave my C drive 400gb from my D drive and in the future I will have to start saving photos and files into the D Drive. Thank you all for your help!
