Can't install Microsoft Office 2013 64 Bit

I found that the x64 version wont install if there is the slightest trace of a previous x86 installation, the x86 version will install however. Did you run the Fixit as linked earlier on? Did you make sure all old Office elements were removed including any updates?

agreed, Ive had similar issues with other programs that detect your OS.

dont run the setup from the root, go directly to the 64bit install directory and run the setup there.. as administrator.

I had to get the link from MS and copy it to install Office 64 bit.
Could you breakdown how I can do it if I did not have the 64 bit link. I don't understand your "root" etc. due to my low skill level.
To be clear, I am asking, if I have a link to a program that will not install as it is a 32 bit program link and I have a 64 bit pc, is there a way to accomplish the installation with the "root" you were referring to?

If you browse your microsoft office cd/dvd, navigate through the folders and look for a folder called x64 and run setup from inside

there as administrator by right clicking the [setup.exe] and select [run as administrator]

Dell would not send a disc and it came preloaded. Not knowing software, is there a way to find an Office link, even 32 bit, open it and find x64 or would it not be there because it IS 32 bit? I am hopefully thinking they make it universally and include 32 bit, just not as the default.
Sounds as though I had better keep that link.
I do understand about the disc and thank you for that.

Sorry I thought someone had. In your initial post you said that you couldn't find .net in Programs and Features or words to that effect. It's a Windows feature that you have to turn on.

You can add .net 3.5 (which includes 2.0 and 3.0) and .net 4.5 in that section: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6632-windows-features-turn-off-windows-8-a.html
