Botched Patch Tuesday Updates Also Causing Problems on Win

As I’ve reported a couple of hours ago, three of the updates released by Microsoft on this month’s Patch Tuesday cycle are causing trouble to Windows 7 users and ask to be installed over and over again.

While KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583 patches are reportedly affecting Windows Vista and 7, two different updates seem to break down Outlook 2013 on Windows 8 and 8.1.

Both KB2810009 and KB2817630 are reportedly responsible for a number of issues, including an empty folder pane, unavailable list of email accounts, folders and favorites.

Uninstalling these two updates seems to be the only way to fix these problems until Microsoft rolls out an official workaround.

In my opinion: NO great advantages whatsoever because office remains office. The great step so far was from 2003 to 2007 but the last two 2010 and 2013 seem very much alike (not considering the small differences and UI) and added just a few extras on top of 2007, from a user point of view.

    That's basically it.
just ran windows update, seems they fixed the glitch that wasn't seeing those office security updates, it must be more on their server end and not the actual update file.

Now just that one W8 optional update is still failing to install.

All the updates, including office 2010 all installed fine and dandy for me, no double-ups or anything, sorry for the people who are having trouble.

You can change the theme to "Office Dark Grey" and it tones down the brightness quite a bit.

One of the many problems Microsoft has had lately with their software updates is that several of the updates in the last group, released on Tuesday September 10, had a detection error: For many users, even after apparently accepting and installing the update, several would keep offering for install in Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
