Please do keep us posted.I'll let you all know when my computer comes back what was wrong.
This is why Windows prompts us to make recovery disks when we fire it up the very first time. But sadly, most people don't. And while Windows also allows us to create a recovery disk at any time, we still don't. Nor do most consumers EVER backup their precious data. Not so easy when you don't have windows to reinstall. Mine came with the computer! I prefer the discs.
Also note this is not Microsoft's fault. They are happy to provide PC builders with original disks, if the makers want to buy them. They have the option, but they don't want the expense - even though it is just a $1 or so each to press a disk. Instead, they get the image file and buy big volume licenses and just create new images on all the new hard drives. This way, they don't have to deal with costs, storage, transport and packaging of millions of DVDs, or pass those expenses on to consumers.
And the OEM makers could easily make original installation disks too and provide them with the PCs. But they don't as that will cut into their profits. And consumers demand cheaper PC prices now - even at the expense of convenience later down the road.
