Answering for myself...water cooling gives you a better chance of higher overclock.

As far as noise goes, it is comparable to an air setup since it uses a case fan with the radiator.
People use the water cooling to keep their cpu temps as low as they can to try to prolong the life of their computer.

Guys, the motherboard was $114.50 on eBay (shipping included, new, in box) and the boards are usually $150 or higher, so I'm very happy with that deal. I wanted the water cooler because it will be more efficient in cooling the CPU and will take up less space inside the case. Intel has certified this model, which is the ASETEK model, re-branded as the Intel. I plan on overclocking the CPU and the motherboard and CPU were both designed for it. I'm not a gamer, but I do like "high performance" computers... I've used water cooling before but this kit is a "all-in-one" with no reservoir that needs filling, no homemade connectors, etc... It's a true plug-and play" setup, which I really like! I'll document the install in case anyone else is interested...

LittleJay, This Intel board has 2 PCI slots (legacy), eSata and 1394, which I really wanted and the equivalent ASUS boards did not have. This board only had HDMI and the ASUS boards all offer VGA and DVI, so you really have to carefully compare features to see which ones you want and can't live without...

I was noticing the difference in specs between your board and comparably priced Asus boards and the Intel board wins hands in my opinion. My current Asus board is the deluxe model and has all the same features as your Intel board, but it was quite a bit more expensive. I think you got a heck of a deal!

Yep! I was going to buy the ASUS, but the reviewers all mentioned the poor audio quality and my excellent audio card is a PCI card, and the ASUS didn't have a slot for it. I'm partial to Intel products as you'll notice from the CPU and water cooler! If Intel made RAM, video cards and hard drives, I'd buy them, too! Anyway, the Intel board has everything I want and the price was right. The fact the board is tuned for the "k" processor, which I bought made this an easy decision. The ASUS and Gigabyte boards had too many "gimmicky" features that I thought were useless or amateurish, at best. I've been using Intel boards and CPUs for more than 20 years now and have yet to have a serious issue. Thanks again! I think I'll create a separate thread for my build, as I'm going to document the entire process for those who might find it interesting...

Thanks, guys! I'm no expert but I have built several hundred PC's and I've learned from my mistakes. There is more than one way to do these things and I'll show the way I do things and see if that helps anyone...

For anyone interested in water cooling, I strongly recommend the "all in one" kits. I am not affiliated with this website or any of the companies represented, I'm just making a recommendation. Any of these kits would provide a painless way to get into water cooling and are not "extreme" in any way. The benefit of these kits is that they are easy to install, provide great cooling and space inside the case for air to circulate. You're quite welcome! The "all in one" CPU water cooling kits are a great way to get started. The real bebefit is the room you have in your case after you remove the monstrous air cooling setup and install the waterblock. I've seen the difference and it's amazing.

I've already found a shop in The Netherlands that sells the Intel one. I like that one because the fan RPM is adjustable. Found a shop that sells them for only a €80 ex. post and packaging. That's more that you pay in the USA. But not very expensive in my opinion. I just might try it.

I will be interested to see how you mount the fan for one of those liquid coolers. I have a full tower case, but I don't see any space big enough to mount it, especially if you install one of the Corsair models with two fans. They say "easy installation" but I don't see how without major customization!

most newer full size towers have 2 fan openings on the rear ,one below the other .i would assume it goes there ,as the fans would blow into the radiator of the device.

Usually the radiator just screws into the case fan so the two items are stacked together. When you have 2 fans like the corsair, it is just 3 things hooked together.

It still takes a lot of room. Part of reason why I don't use liquid cooling. Air cooling is sufficient for my overclock and usage.

I see. I didn't think of using the rear fan opening. That would make mounting a single radiator/fan easy, but I wouldn't be able to do the double fan, as the rest of the back is taken up with PCIE slots, USB ports, eSATA ports, etc., unless I could use the spaces for the two 230 mm fans on the top of the case.

I just noticed this. So you can actually stack one fan/radiator on top of the other.

A lot depends on your case. Newer cases seem to have allowed for the installation of the liquid units. On my Corsair 400r mine is a single and mounts on the rear fan opening. My case has two 140mm side fans that blow cool air directly onto my motherboard without a standard air cooler in the way. My old system (wife has it now) had a large single 200mm side fan and after mounting the radiator the edge of the fan would hit the radiator and I could not get the side back on. I was able to mount a 140mm fan on the side and it now has enough clearance. Even some after market air coolers are so big they wont fit in some cases.
