I have a similar problem but with a bit of a twist than the others that have posted here so far. i also am having trouble updating to windows 10 from windows 7 ultimate 32 bit sp1 and after reading thru all the post here have came to the conclusion that i have an incorrectly partitioned hard drive that is preventing the upgrade.
After running DISKPART and finding out that i have only 1 partition on my hard drive (as shown in image), can i use one of the partitioning tools like minitool or AOMEI to resize the current partition and move it over to create the other needed partitions and to put them into the proper order, And if so how many partitions and what sizes would i need to create and what ID's and GPT Attributes would i use for a NON OEM built computer and what would be the correct procedure to do this?
You only "need" one partition so I am not understanding why you think you need more than one. Please explain in greater detail what it is you are trying or want to do.
the reason this post doesn't make sense is it that the admin re-activated this post and placed it in the incorrect category from where it was originally posted.

Incorrect? So you are having "Windows 8.1 recovery" problems? Because that is what that other thread is about!
This thread does not make sense because you still have not explained in detail, what you want to do! So you refusing to cooperate only results in delays for you getting the help you are seeking!
Your post was moved so you could get the specific help you deserve for your problems - which have nothing to do with Windows 8.1 or recovery.
So if you want help with YOUR problem, you need to help us help you by explaining exactly what you are trying to do with your partitions and hard drive.
I think the OP is saying they want to upgrade to Windows 10
@DKMitt
I think you'd be better to describe the problems you're having / what error messages you are seeing when you try to upgrade rather then your conclusion.
Right. As you quoted, that is what he said his problem is in his first post. But that does not suggest a problem with W8.1 recovery, the topic of that other huge thread, and that is the reason admin split his problem out, into a new thread.
So again, DKMitt, as both ComputerGeek and I have requested, we need more information so we know what you want, and then can offer good advice.
Not sure if this is what you mean but although I can run a windows system in a single partition, (The actual OS does not matter for this purpose), I have not done this for many years.
The minimum number of partitions I use is three
A small system partition that is set to be the boot partition
An operating system partition for the actual OS and all the program folders
A data partition for all my files etc
This is normally created when installing an OS onto a blank disk. If you install a windows OS, Vista or later, onto a blank disk it will create two partitions by default Partitions 1 & 2 in the above list. I would then use a partition manager to split the larger partition (2 Above) into two partitions to provide the data partition, (2).
I also use the windows built in functionality to move the standard folders , (documents, Photos, Music, Downloads Desktop Etc) to the data partition to make usability as seamless as possible.
It may be possible to recreate this set-up after the initial install of the OS but this could be a little involved
