    Computer running slow

Alright so my system specs are.

    Computer Type PC/Desktop
    System Manufacturer/Model Number Acer
    OS Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200)
    CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
    Motherboard Acer Predator G3620
    Memory 32GB DDR3 SDRAM
Graphics Card ATI HD 8760 graphics card

Now I'm wondering, how poor of a system this is? I was under the impression when I bought it that it would run reasonably well. But I've found that very few programs even run with Windows 8 for starters, I had to do numerous work-arounds just to install Pro Tools 10, though it runs worse on this system than it did on my near decade old PC.

Also, games run very slowly and poorly, very choppy and laggy.

I've had constant crashes and sometimes will be playing a game and it will just turn off, no crash, no warning box, nothing just turns off, same thing with Pro Tools.

Every time I turn the computer off, there is a new windows update to run. Which seems to make things run slower, sometimes it will take 2 minutes to turn Firefox on, installing programs is almost impossible, requiring compatibility work-arounds, and work around work arounds.

It's just mental, I've heard there's a new update coming called Windows Blue, Windows 8.1 or whatever, but all I've heard about it is that it will bring back the start button.

I'm just wondering if there's any way to fix this, can I downgrade to Windows 7? Is Windows Blue going to fix all this nonsense? Or is it just that my system is junk.

    Windows 8 & Windows 7 Dual Boot

The only thing missing in your list is your Harddrive specs.

I just finished working on a system that seemed to be dragging no matter what I disabled, defragged, or uninstalled..

After cleaning the system and updating all drivers, i found that my flashdrive was faster than the harddrive!

My usb3 32GB flashdrive had a transfer rate of 130MB/s where as the harddrive was only 80MB/s max!!!

Turns out this laptop has a GREEN harddrive, dual core four threads 3.4GHZ and they massacred it with a green drive!

Please tell us the specs on your harddrive...

Well Well Mr. Corey Niles I don't know what to say but I would think your system is a pretty decent one. I don't know how good ACER systems are in general but your specs from you posted are pretty decent. Also as far as I know you should be on 8.1 BY now if Microsoft is going to continue to support you.

Actually, HDDs' are still a standard. SSD's are more of a computer luxury item since it's more $ per GB.

Wow they've gotten WAY cheaper these past few months...

Plus HDD's are still the standard for desktop and laptop storage. To some people SSD's are a luxury item.

Try some of these first, most common in this situation is too many startup items and services running, not properly configured and optimized system, outdated drivers or corrupt files, incomplete windows updates, hardware issues or there drivers. Look at rest here and do not do the registry cleaner. My computer is running slow, what steps can I do to fix it?
