MS says return of Start button, only now it is" Stop" for Task Manager
I don't know what they're thinking with this. Seems you can now click on the Stop button and the Task Manager will open. It will then show you programs Microsoft doesn't like or think should be running and highlights them. It then asks you "Do you want to Stop this process and use Metro instead?"
I kind of like the idea and am ready to use it!!!
P.S. Please don't ask for any source for this.

The function you point to, certainly doesn't show all, in fact, they are mostly items from the Control panel. But I have hacked mine and have now regained my old Windows 7 programs. (known items, within folders). I do wanrt ot try harder to use the Metro inteface, but needed something I am more accustomed to for expedition.

Not in the traditional sense, it won't be one, just a way currently to gain access to certain things that we used a start button for in the past.
Start button is irrelevant, you can get to what you need simply by hovering your mouse over the lower left corner, and right clicking.
Therefore making the Start button obsolete.
Tablet user here: Totally didn't know you could do that. Thanks Mike
Also, what is the stop button/ why don't I know what a stop button is?

Stop button is just what it means, will stop all activity and cause a reboot.

I'm hoping that would be "Stop" instead of a "End task" in the Task Manager instead.
Well, there is a "Start" pop-up now. Move the pointer to the bottom left corner while on the desktop, and you'll see the Start pop-up that will take you to the "Start" screen when clicked on.
