Not one forum has an appropriate solution to fix my issue. So here it is. I have an early 2011 Alienware m17xr3. Dual hard drive. Came with Windows 7, BIOS not UEFI. Dual boot with Ubuntu 15.04 and Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit. Windows is on first hard drive. Installed Windows first. Using GRUB2. Reversed boot order so GRUB (on Ubuntu hard drive) boots first so I have a boot loader. Both HDD on GPT. Select first (boot) partition on Windows HDD to boot. Get the above error code saying winload.exe missing or contains errors. Startup repair from install DVD fails. Try Boot Repair CD and doesn't fix. What is wrong? Getting rid of either or reformatting is a non starter. Want both and Windows requires far too much data to get back up. Help please. Everything for 8 is for UEFI not BIOS.
