All you can do is wait. FYI, lots of people having the same problem as yours with chkdsk.

I thought to add to the thread with my batch file for sfc & dism.
It takes around 2 hours or so to run.

Dism hangs on 20% for a long time.Just be patient & wait.

Download it & right click it & choose Properties & Unblock it.



I used a smiley I downloaded to provide an example.

Then right click it & choose Run as administrator.



It should look similar to this when done---

OK.
You could just download it & keep it for future use.
I use it several times a week just to keep small problems from getting bigger.

Sfc fixes problems with your system.

Dism fixes the component store that sfc uses to fix things.

Sometimes sfc will say it found problems but could not fix them.

By running dism you fix the area sfc draws on to fix things.

After running dism, sfc will be able to fix things.

In the batch file is sfc, dism, sfc.



With the batch file you don't have to type in the commands in an administrator command prompt every time you want to run them.

I do.

Every time I notice a tiny glitch or after installing or uninstalling something.
Doing it at bedtime is good.

I usually do this once in a while---



My computer is in good shape so I always get the message that no errors were found but I can scan it if I want to.

Do you have any other external devices connected to your PC such as Removable USB, Hard Disk ? If you do, disconnect them from the PC. If you don't, try the next step (3) in my first post.
