Perhaps it doesn't look as if schools will be rushing to buy these things.
Good. If they want to teach the kids something, get them raspberry pi or similar.
No sense in buying a load of proprietary stuff and turning the kids into mini-metrotards.
It's funny. That requires sense of humour of course.
Here is the solution:
- scrap the RT program: no one needs a new platform/ecosystem besides iOS, android, and W8
- throw all resources towards the actual W8/Surface
- create low cost Surface "home": the surface pro is high-powered, which makes it too expensive for normal users who don't need that much power to update facebook etc.
- Change W8 so that it has a dedicated desktop version that works like W7 with improvements: It is OK t have phone/tablet/desktop look and feel similar. this binds costumers. But a desktop/laptop user has different user needs than a phone/tablet.
You are welcome, now get me my golden parachute for pointing out the obvious that your highly paid managers could not see.
Microsoft is planning to cut the price of its Surface RT tablets. Sources familiar with Microsoft's Surface plans have revealed to The Verge that the price cut could occur as early as next week, with each model being cut by $150. Microsoft's move to cut prices on its Surface RT tablets follow slow sales, and efforts to sell the devices elsewhere at lower rates. The software maker recently launched an education program to sell the Surface RT to schools at $199, and it has been clearing stock of its devices at its Tech-Ed and Worldwide Partner conferences recently.
Update: Staples has confirmed the price cut in a listing in its weekly promotional ads. The price cut comes into effect on Sunday July 14th.
