I too am still getting random freezes, at least one a day. Gawd, this is annoying! If they still occur when I put my Ivy Bridge system together, BACK to Win7 for me.
I KNOW my freezes are tied to disk activity, usually downloading something like a torrent or transferring files. I am unwilling to spend the time troubleshooting it tho, the damn machine worked great until Win8 CP came along, the blame is there somewhere...
Grump. I really did not NOT want to get sucked into troubleshooting, GMan, but dammit, it's in my blood. So I just ran the latest Intel chipset drivers for my mobo from Intel's site (RST and INF). I will see what happens.
Nope, Intel's latest chipset stuff did not fix it. As a matter of fact, the RST seemed to make it worse so I uninstalled it. Better now.
I would also set Optimized Defaults in the bios and save. Reset to AHCI mode before save if you're currently using that.
my computer has been stable for the past couple of days... I haven't changed anything or installed any drivers, but here's hoping for some stability!
Mine is doing better lately too. I should look through the Windows Update history to see if they have been making some changes...
I've been mostly sticking to 7 on my laptop for a while now. Let me know if you found some update that might have fixed it.
