Hi there. I am running an Asus X55U NOTEBOOK with Windows 8 64 preinstalled. It is one month old. I had it connected to my t.v. last evening via the VGA connector. When I disconnected the connector a blue screen appeared and it stalled out. I restarted the laptop after a couple of hours and it read "Check cable connection... PXE-MOF...Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
No bootable device...insert boot disk and press any key.
I followed the directions to disconnect battery, power cord, etc., and I held the power button down for 1 minute. I also reconnected the internal hard disk to make sure it hadn't slipped. I then opened the start up utility to check my boot options but my internal hard disk doesn't appear as an option. It isn't detected in the main menu either. I tried to restore the defaults but that did nothing either. Now when I boot it up it goes straight to the Aptio Setup Utility.
Is this a software problem or a hard disk problem? Since my notebook came with win8 preinstalled, I can't reinstall. In fact, I am not seeing a product key listed anywhere on the device either.
