    Notebook cant boot

Hi all, so far had no problems with my Asus K55A Notebook but I went to turn it on this morning and was greeted by this screen. Does anyone have any ideas where I start to sort it out or is it a return to maker job.
Sorry the photo is brilliant as I took it with my phone.

Joan, go to the bios and check that boot order and set your HDD to 1st.

TBH If you haven't been messing with it I have a feeling the HDD has died.

hi, I think thats an error usually cause by a improper setting in the BIOS ,and its usually is the setting for booting from a network device ,Im basing that on what i can see in the picture ,realtec pcie controller !,and that i have seen this similar error many time over the years so check in bios for boot from network device and disable it ,and try turning it on again

Thanks both I'll have a look, I haven't been messing with it John, well not as far as I know but I'll get back here when I've had chance to try things out but while I'm on my 7 machine I'll do a few things first before checking the Notebook out again.

I will return at some point in the day though to update.

Windows Boot Manager should be set to first boot device.

I think John was right and it's dead, went into BIOS and set HD to first and now there's nothing. Completely black screen with just the power button lit.
I've been through all the steps to try and recover and I can't get anywhere nothing happens so because it was after 1PM when I'd finished trying I've got to wait until Monday now to phone the seller. Only had it since November so still covered by the Manufacturer.
Damned annoyed as it means I'm stuck down this end of the place to use the computer, although it does mean I'm on a bigger monitor, 22" rather than 15.6"

Wonder if I took the battery out for a bit then put it back that would have any effect, thinking aloud here, I know if I have to send it back I've got to make sure I take the other stick of memory out I put in.

It's definitely dead, can't even boot it to a Seagate Tools for DOS, thought I'd check the drive so downloaded the ISO on here and burned the image to CD. It just doesn't want to work, all you get when turning on is all the lights on the front turn on and then go straight out again apart from the one to show the main power is plugged in and the one to show the power button is pressed and lit, you get a slight noise as it it's trying to work then silence and nothing.

You don't even get any sign of activity on the screen just blank.

Roll on tomorrow, don't know how long it'll be before I have a working Notebook again.

Been on the phone this morning to the vendor then onto Asus. It's got to go back filled out the RMA form and now awaiting the reply telling me when they are picking it up.

Have to take out that stick of RAM I put in before it goes just in case they send a new machine rather than this one back. He did tell me on the phone they usually manage to get products back in 7 to 10 days. Fingers crossed they do.

Well it got picked up today just after 12.30pm got a text Tuesday to say they would pick up on Wednesday then first thing this morning got another text telling the time the driver would be here, it even told me his name.

I didn't have to pack it up as he bought a special box that it went into and was zip locked shut, it's now a question of waiting for it's return and it should be by the same person who picked it up.

That seems like good service to me - especially if they manage the 10-day return!
PCWorld have a nasty habit of returning machines to the manufacturer without telling you - even if it's in Germany, and takes 5 weeks round-trip.
