Windows 8 suddenly says it's not activated. 0x8007041D

I have been using this laptop which came with Win 8 installed since 2013. Everything has been fine until a couple of days ago when the PC asked me to activate windows.

If I do a run of slui 3 and enter my correct valid key it says initially. "Your key works! continue when you're ready". So I try to activate and I get the error. (0x8007041D)

Then I found out that the problem might be sppsvc.exe isn't started. I tried to started it, but I also get the error. (1053)

Finally, I decide to run a SFC /Scan Now and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth.

DISM Failed with


"Error: 0x800f081f


The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.


The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log"

I could not understand the errors, only that it can't seem to find the source and google searching has gotten me nowhere fast.
