Solved Windows Update not working properly and high CPUusage(50%)

Hello,
I've been living with this issue for quite some time, but now I am trying to get some information and possibly fixes.
I noticed that my computer occasionally starts to work slower than it should, especially it affects me in games and etc.
Then I started to look more into issue and found a local service host which consumes 50% of my CPU usage. Obviously this didn't look usual for me, so I kept looking and found out that Windows Update service is behind this. As I turn it off, this high usage disappears, but it kept happening again and again... Until, I turned off the automatic detection of updates and it didn't bother me again. Then after some time I figured that my PC is not getting any required updates, which is not good at all. So, I decided to start looking for updates manually....But that didn't work at all. I've been waiting for hours every day, looking for updates with that high CPU usage, and it just kept telling me:
"Checking for updates". And nothing happens, absolutely nothing, no errors, no popups, no updates found, just endless checking. I ran some commands in CMD to check for any system files corruptions, but everything was fine.
So I want to ask for some community help, I hope somebody knows the solution to my problem. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Windomaniac! I recently clean installed 8 on my MSI GT70 and ran into this exact problem after installing update KB2919355. Windows Update hangs and uses excessive amounts of cpu resources. I tried for the past day to find a solution to no avail. I finally left 2919355 installed and disabled Windows Update. I really don't have time for Microsoft monkey-business. You can Google and see for yourself that this update has traditionally been a pain in everyone's butt. Good luck and post back if you have a better solution!

Hey 5quirre1, my computer is only a month old, so I can probably say that I have almost fresh Windows 8.1 install and I can clearly see the update KB2919355 you specified. Probably you are right about it, though I'm keeping Windows Update off as well until I can find a better solution or somebody might post it here.

This worked for me. I'm not sure why I didn't see this thread from the get. Let us know if it worked for you!

I have tried this option, but when I try to launch the Update KB3172614 for Windows 8.1 x64, as I have 64-bit operating system, the Windows Update Standalone Installer says that the update is not applicable to my computer... I don't understand why, tho I did everything correctly as specified.

Ok, I eventually figured it out, before installing update KB3172614 I had to install some other updates and I did it. Now my Windows Update works as it has to work, it found 104 more updates, so that might take a while.
Honestly, thank you very much, 5quirre1, for helping me out! :)

Good to hear it worked out for you. Keep your computer running as cool as possible for all those updates. They sure weren't fun to go through, but it was definitely better than a hanging Windows Update!
