New Windows 8.1 Installation - Need Updates and a sticky

I just installed Windows 8.1 Home Premium on my desktop, and now I need updates. I tried leaving the PC on last night, but no updates were installed.

On the Windows 7 forum, ThrashZone outlined steps on what to do, and what updates you needed to get you going with a new Windows 7 build - saving time, and not having to download 300 + updates since the inception of Windows 7/Windows 7 w/SP1, all with just a few downloads which will get you as close as possible to having your Windows 7 fully updated. This has become a sticky and a lifesaver for Windows 7 users who are still holding on to Windows 7 - such as myself.

The Windows 8 Forum needs the same thing. I am sure something similar is posted here on the Windows 8 Forum - but to save some time, does anyone have links to where I can download Windows 8 and which updates to manually download and install to get my Windows 8.1 going with updates ?

And can it be made into a sticky?

Thank you all.

Give this a try I found this solution from another member on here and he said it worked. I just reinstalled Win 8.1 and haven't had a issue yet with sticking updates so it must be a isolated problem.
1 - Go to Services Console and STOP BITS and Windows Update services
2 - Go to Windows directory and delete ALL contents in SoftwareDistribution subdirectory
3 - Install the following Win8.1 update - KB3172614
Microsoft Update Catalog
4 - Restart your computer as directed
5 - Go to Control Panel and perform Check for Updates
