external problem

Hye...im really need a help...i did not use my laptop and my external hard disk for a week...then...when im back to use it...the first prob is it shows that my windows will expired this month since its not original...then i plug my toshiba external hard disk it shows that location not found. I wonder it is because of the windows or its really broken...but last im use it...its okay...how to fix my external because i cannot bear to lose the things inside it. P/s:sorry for my poor english

Can this external hard-drive be inserted into another computer? I'm wondering if a direct connection as an internal hard-drive just might work.
