Error 80244019 - Windows could not search for new updates

I just had Windows Update Error 80244019 - "Windows could not search for new updates" whilst doing a manual check for updates.

I ran the troubleshooter WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab in my admin account but that didn't work. I then ran the troubleshooter in Safe Mode which I thought fixed the problem, but 15 minutes later I'm seeing the same problem.

What would cause this problem? Is there a problem today with Microsoft's update servers?

I've been having a similar issue a few times recently, I notice that maybe after a half hour I can just run a manual check I can get up to date. I've been getting it on manual and the automatic one that happens on first boot of my computer. I'm going to assume its an issue on Microsoft's servers given it fixed itself sometimes for me after half an hour or depending on when I turn on my computer (more so if its before 6AM, less so after 6AM) and the number of methods I did and it didn't fix it.
