Solved What exactly are 'Windows Update Client' Updates for ?

In amongst today's round of updates was KB3075853

The details of what these updates do is never specified.

Specifically, I would like to know whether these are a 'back-door' for future W10 compatibility checks and upgrades. I haven't installed this update, and unless I can be 100% certain it isn't W10 related then I shall keep it hidden.

The windows update client is the actual windows update program itself.

Every so often Microsoft will issue an update to the update system based on the feedback and telemetry they receive from users who have update failures, or to patch possible vunrabilities.

Personally I have no issues with any windows 10 updates to older operating systems - All my systems are running Windows 10.

I would be surprised if this type of update was anything to do with OS upgrades

W10 is another story for me. Personal choice I know, but I just don't really take to it after having used it for while. As to the PC I'm on now (Dell Vostro 3750), well this simply refuses to install W10 in any workable way (clean or update) and either blue screens at the final stages or upgrades to what is an unusable PC. No such problems on my ancient Acer, that will install W10 straight off, clean install or otherwise... but I just don't like it.
