Hi guys

I'd be grateful for some help please.

I have this Windows Update Error 80244019 since 28th July (the day before Win10 was released!):

80244019.jpg

The web seems to be lit up by hundreds of other people experiencing the same error and I've spent the last few hours reading all the posts without solution, see here: https://www.google.com/search?q=802...oTCMDlo6C8pMcCFQnYGgodEYMHWA&biw=1824&bih=927

It seems that the problem can be solved by upgrading to Win10 but I'm not ready to do that yet.

I can also get Windows Update to run successfully if I uncheck the option to 'Give me updates for other Microsoft products...'but that doesn't help me update Microsoft Office 2013, etc.

Quick summary of what I've tried without success is:

System Restore
Check BITS, Software Protection, and Windows Update services all set to defaults and started
Scan for infection using Kaspersky, MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware
Run the Windows Update diagnostics tool from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/windows-update-issues/en-us
And worked through the cmd prompt procedure here to reset Windows Update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/971058

The diagnostics tool always finds and fixes these errors but it doesn't resolve the update error code:

It should be noted that I have another computer running Win7x64 Home & Office 2010 and there isn't a similar problem.

GIVEN THAT SO MANY PEOPLE SEEM TO BE EXPERIENCING THIS ERROR AT THE MOMENT DOES ANYBODY HAVE SOME INSIGHT PLEASE? Many thanks.

Also, I wonder if anybody could decipher the errors in my C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log please. I think it might suggest the cause but I can't understand it. It shows as follows:

OK, panic over, after two weeks, I've fixed it.

I wish I could tell all the other users who're struggling how I did it, but I'm not exactly sure.

I basically:

Restored and installed the optional updates that I'd hidden because I didn't think I needed them (including the Win10 preparation updates)
Restarted in safe mode and ran the Windows Update diagnostics tool in safe mode
Restarted again in safe mode and ran the Tweaking.com repairs tool to Repair Windows Update in safe mode

Hey presto, 22 new updates found, errors gone!

Thanks for posting that google link. I had the same problem (my post has the same title) and found a solution.

I finally got this fixed today.

I followed the stop services, rename 2 files, register DLLs & restart the services instructions here:
Windows Update Error Code 8024A000 - Microsoft Community
That did not fix the Windows Update problem, but I re-ran the Windows Update fix program, and all is well 28 updates to download.

The WU fix program is here:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-1BE17BF70B21/WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab
I'm assuming that the renaming was the real solution and that the Windows Update fix program set something back up in the new files - I recall seeing something about reset data store during the fix program run.

No need to run the Auslogics fix program which found lots of unrelated "issues", that I never chose to "fix" via the registration etc. process.
