HELP NEEDED RE Adobe Flash Player - ActionScript Error

    Windows 8.1

I found the following on another forum about this problem:

Flash Player alerts or warnings when using Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8 8.1 and Windows 10

According to this article it states that Microsoft mistakenly released the debug version of Flash. I expect they will reissue the update shortly to correct the problem.

    more info re safe mode

    Hi Juliet

    tyvm for the welcome.

You don't need to use safe mode as it's now clear that this update is the problem, just uninstall this update and wait for the fixed version as per the post by manadrain.

There is more info about it here if you really want to know: How To Boot Into Windows 8.1 / 8 Safe Mode [Guide] | Redmond Pie

I found your post which confirmed my suspicion which update was to blame and dashed thru the registration so I could leave a reply as you hadn't had one yet. At the time I was trying to post a RFH about a problem with my wifi and this problem was getting in the way, so my reply was a bit hasty.

Hope u have it sorted now and the other half can play his games.

    Regards.

Hi, Shadow, sorry for not replying sooner. Your instructions did the trick, no more unwanted, dumb pop-ups. However, the update is still listed in my update history list, should I hide it? Also, I received the same security update (KB3087916) yesterday in control panel. I don't know if it's the one to fix the original problem or not. I did click on the "more information" to read article and it did say that an update would be provided soon, or something to that effect, so I gather the update received yesterday is not the fix. How should I proceed...can I hide it? I wonder if others have received it?

BTW, the hubby was very pleased he could play his games....took a awhile to get him off the computer, though. LOL

    Thanks for your help, Shadow.

    Hi J
no I just tried reinstalling and had to re-uninstall, so its not fixed yet, and I don't think it will be til the next update issue next Tuesday. Personaaly I haven't hidden it yet but you can if you want. depends whether or not we'll need to install both if a fix comes along.
I'll keep an eye on the link in manadrain's post in case it gets updated and post here if anything new comes up. Just had to take it off mrs s' machine so she can play her facebook games.
Perhaps if you sing your your hubby a song like the one in the telly ad then maybe he'll buy u your own laptop.
    gl with that
    regards S

    Hi
KB3089023 has appeared which is the fix for this problem (Flash Player runs in debug mode and errors on badly coded flash pages). I installed 3087016 first and then the rest including this one. So far no errors.

Yes!, I installed both updates this morning and no problems all day. Glad to get this security update installed.

I'm probably going to wait until next months (or the next) Flash update and skip these two. Installing a known problem update and then having to follow up with a patch doesn't seem smart to me. MS should have targeted the fix to those that need it, and pulled the problem update from the system. Imo, they should then be offering a single correct update for those that haven't deployed the faulty one.

Hi Shadowjack, you sure are a man of his words. Thanks for posting. I did not check either one of the Flash updates for installing, but they were installed anyway. How did that happen? I wanted to check here first. Now I'm concerned that any updates that I don't have checked will install from now on.......that concerns me. Re hubby, I don't have a good singing voice (hubby always tells me I'm off-key)LOL. I'm glad your wife can now play her games. Have a great weekend, Shadow.
