Windows 10 installation question

Hi.
I will probably wait for 3-4 months before I install the new windows 10 to replace my current 8.1 windows.
Question:
If there are updates/fixes for windows 10, will they be applied regularly to the version in “Get windows 10” icon I have on my task-bar. Or will I have to get the latest windows 10 from another location?
Thanks.
TC.

If you upgrade from your activated 8.1 to the free 10 using the Media Creation Tool in step 3, then yes you'll get the latest retail copy of Windows 10 installed and activated. :)

Hi, what if I opt to upgrade to Windows 10 via Windows Update, will I still get the latest copy along with any fix that Microsoft might release? Thanks

The windows update method has failed for a lot of people..
ISO method seems to do better..

For me, GWX worked fine Laptop and ISO method in Home PC. But none has worked in my Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet PC.

I agree with You. It also has only 32 bit EFI. Hence the problem.
However I tried 32 bit media creation tool only to upgrade. Still failed so far. Iy goes as far as 91% and says it is going to reboot, but finally get message that upgrade failed.

Not a problem - it is a feature..
32Bit UEFI support is only supported on ATOM CPU's

Noticed you had 64GB drive - nice option, mine is 32GB
Upgrade failure may be freespace

How much Disk space you using before trying the upgrade ?
Are you using the ISO to upgrade or windows update ??

Suggest ISO method and do not download any updates during the installation..
you can download them after

I after restting have nearly 32 GB free. Still after getting installing windows 10 message and going to reboot message, I get message installation/update failed.
I tried with straight upgrade from the tool and also using setup.exe from usb disk.
In both cases, final result is same.
