The above update has appeared in Window Update, but I already have it installed, it was installed on 21 May 2015.

Anyone know why this update has appeared?

Thanks

I had it hidden, but it came up as a recommended update again. So, back to hidden it goes until I want to update to Windows 10...

Seems to be a different size from what I remember. Maybe a bug fix or some other issue that needed changing, or they don't trust the judgement of its users who chose to hide it, etc. ;)

KB3035583 puts itself back in the list to be installed

06/24/15 How to opt out of Win 10

1.) You have to proactively go and download it so, no, it will not be forced on you . . . I'm not sure about this

2.) You can get rid of the nag screen by un-installing KB3035583

Is it out of the Notification Area now? Yes

Make a note of what it is: KB3035583 . . . and leave it in Hidden Updates

07/10/15 It took itself out off Hidden Updates, and put it back in the list to install

. . . how did it do this? is there another solution?

This page says to get rid of it in the Registry, Restore Points, and Task Manager

How do you do this in the Registry? Get Revo Uninstaller, and let it delete all occurrences?

I've downloaded Revo Unistaller a couple of other times to delete things, and had positive results. They give you 30 days, so I never got it. The third time I need it, though, looks like I will buy it.

Urgh, yeah. I had uninstalled this update in the past and had hidden it. Hey Microsoft? If I hide an update, don't try and redownload it if you push it out again.

Hoping I didn't cause and issues cause I recognised the KB number and uninstalled straight after I installed it then hid it on the next reboot. Hopefully that doesn't cause me any issues.

MS wants everyone running Win7/8/8.1 to upgrade to Win10 -- they've made that very clear. Don't be surprised if they start to reissue this same KB under different numbers, so it keeps reappearing regardless of what you do. We might just have to live with their persistent nagging until the free-upgrade "year" is over.
