Optional updates listed under important updates

Hi

Noticed this month that I suddenly had a lot of important updates to install when I check Windows update. Under important updates I have the likes of:

KB3055999 - Update APN database entry for SaskTel (Canada) in Windows 8.1 and 8
KB3045634 - You cannot make a PPP connection after you reconnect a PLC device in Windows 8.1 or Windows 8

The article for both of these states: Provided as an Optional update for Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1

Wondering why I have these and others listed as Important?

They are "only" important, so they are optional. "Critical" updates are not optional. MS-speak at its finest.

This is what has confused me, there is a section for optional updates so I would have expected them to be there. Nothing wrong at my end then?

Thanks for letting me know. It all just seems strange that the type of updates that come under the Optional area for my Win 7 machines are now under Important on my Win 8.1 - it's not like Win 8.1 doesn't have an Optional area, and there are some updates under it.
