I have found this practice to be very effective as well. I never sleep my desktop so auto maintenance cannot run at 3 AM and I do not want to schedule it to run at any time that I may be using my PC so I simply trigger it manually on a regular basis, walk away and let it do it's thing and finish on it's own.I have found if I get a system View attachment 62651I just manually start maintenance(which takes longer and uses more resources as the automatic daily because it forces every task) and the hiccup goes away.
I am more than a little peeved at the updates for my HP laptop from Microsoft. The upgrades for my Dell (Windows 7) PC install without issues. The updates for my HP Laptop (Windows 8.1) take forever and recently have been failing with regularity. Last nights update took hours and when I started the laptop this morning I saw a message, "Failure configuring windows updates, Reverting Changes, Do not turn off your computer". Both the PC and the Laptop have the same antivirus software etc so I do not think this should be an issue. My guess is that Windows 10 is being developed because Windows 8.1 is a piece of junk. Not sure what to do at this point. Any ideas other than buy a MAC? Thanks.
