The Optional updates are not really needed in my opinion.
I like to get the Security updates to help protect against viruses.
Others may chime in.
You can right click an Update & click Hide if you don't want it offered again.

Thanks a lot! And I still have a question. Does these updating may take more memory capacities? I wonder if it may cause the result that my computer become slower and slower.The updates are published for a reason. You are taking unnecessary risks by not running the updates to fix known security vulnerabilities. I always stay up to date, and I update hundreds of computers at work, and rarely have any problems caused by an update.
Updates fix security issues, fix program crashes, introduce new features, fix help files, add stability to apps, etc.
As a computer user and owner of several computers in my life time it is common sense that the windows update is a must for all computers and expecilly for a young OS such as Windows 8.1.
Yep! My last update has caused a lot of problems. My Wi-Fi cannot be connected for a long time. It really makes me confused whether that update is necessary.If it ain't broke, do not fix it. As for the security, there is a simple workaround.
