Why would the seller do that if it has a COA sticker on it? Unless its a fake sticker and it doesn't have an embedded key for windows 8?

KMS is a Key Management Server. It's used for corporate system activation. A company can do it in house if they want. It's not something you would use on a consumer OS. With KMS it has to reactivate every so many days. to do that it has to connect to a KMS server. If it can't connect, you'll get a Windows is not activated message. if the seller used his work KMS server to activate your install it will likely time out at some point and fail activation. Even if it doesn't its not legal. You likely have 8.0 Pro Volume license installed. That's also why it won't upgrade online, VL editions won't. At least I think they won't.

so I was downloading the updates to windows 8.1, but it wasn't going anywhere so I rebooted. Then on reboot, I try again and it's not showing up on the store. I hit the back button a few times and saw the link again, but it says it's already installed. Now I am pretty sure it didn't get...
