Would appreciate some help with Windows Update issues on a Windows 8 64-bit computer (Dell 660s).

Windows Updates are set to install automatically. However, there are a bundle of updates that failed.

Attached is WindowsUpdate.txtView attachment WindowsUpdate.txt

CBS.zip will not upload, too large.

Thanks for the reply, Addictive Gamer!

Had already run the Fix, and did so once again, but, no joy.

Same result after updates are downloaded, Windows restarts, gets to 97%, and...
Failure configuring Windows Update
Reverting changes...

A continuing saga.

You can try to perform a clean up, go to:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools

Run "Disk cleanup" as Administrator and check the "Windows update cleanup" checkbox.

edit:
as well as other checkboxes.

this process might take up to 30 minutes or even more.
when done run update again.

ClassicShell.net is known to give rise to this scenario - if that's installed, get rid.

@NoelDP,

It is not. The owner of the computer would not know how to install ClassicShell.

@Addictive Gamer,

Disk cleanup/Windows update cleanup ran for a couple of hours, and the green bar does not want to go beyond the midway mark (on or about). Had to cancel it. Calling it a night.

Thanks all for the help. Beginning to wonder if a Refresh would be worth its while...

NoelDP and Addictive Gamer,

After trying your suggestions, and reading all sorts of material in the link provided, decided to just use the Windows 8 option to: Refresh PC without affecting your files

Incredibly, after the Refresh, was able to download a multitude of updates, Windows got configured without reverting changes, and it all works !!

Thank you for your help!!
