    Reboot and run
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
again and see if it comes up clean, if not reboot and run again... sometimes it can take 2-3 tries. But you always have to reboot when the System File Checker finds something.

If not, then run the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command to repair any component store corruption, restart the PC afterwards, and try the sfc /scannow command again
SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8

run the restore health command & reboot & run sfc again

Thanks for the help everyone, I ended up running the scannow utility 3 times, then the DISM utility, then the scannow tool again with a reboot between each scan. It took a few tries but now the scan comes up clean so it seems like everything is back to normal.

    Thanks again for the help.
