    Product key question

So my grandmother has a PC on 8.1. She originally had 7 and bought a 8 pro upgrade. Then she got the free 8.1 upgrade. If she got the 8.1 upgrade would that have have her a new product key? Like if she isn't on 8 anymore could I use it to upgrade my 7 to 8 since she is on 8.1?

    Hi 'lets'! Welcome to EightForums!

The key would still be in use on your grandmothers machine; the 8 and 8.1 key is one in the same.

Since I have the disc already. I read something about getting a new key from Microsoft for like $69.99. Is that true?

$119.99 is what I see them go for on the MS Store.

Windows 8 Product Key Question in Windows Updates & Activation
In December, I purchased Windows 8 pro to put on my laptop, which had previously run Windows 7. I bought the full retail box edition, as far as I can tell, as the box simply says "Windows 8 Pro" on the front, not "upgrade," and it has both a product key plus 32/64-bit DVDs inside. I decided,...
