    Update failure - KB3001652

    Twice I tried to run this update and it ran forever (well, many minutes).
    I found it may be downloaded from the download center under "Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime".

    When that runs I see the following error. What system policy might that be?

    OS Version = 6.2.9200, Platform 2
    OS Description = Future OS - x64

    CommandLine = "J:\Downloads\vstor_redist\Setup.exe"
    TimeZone = Pacific Standard Time
    Initial LCID = 1033

    Using Simultaneous Download and Install mechanism

    Operation: Installing

    Package Name = Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime 2010 Setup
    Package Version = 10.0.50903

    User Experience Data Collection Policy: UserControlled

    Number of applicable items: 6

    Final Result: Installation failed with error code: (0x80070659), "This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator. " (Elapsed time: 0 00:00:16).

    I had an issue with that update today as well, on a Surface Pro 3. The download hung for an hour, so after cancelling and restarting the system, it hung when trying to install the update on boot.

    Same here, have Office 2010 64-bit installed and update just hangs indefinitely. If you click to 'Stop Installation', button just greys out and carries on hanging.

    Ditto again. While they're at it, perhaps they could fix the problem of having to go back into Windows Update, after updating, to update again. Seems like such a simple thing (ask Apple) - I swear MS stands for Monkey Sh_t (for brains, that is) rather than MicroSoft...

    See last paragraph, this update has already been pulled by MS...

    When shutting down or starting up again? Mine hung on the shutdown phase so luckily I was able to power off, restart and not select it.

    Yeah, seems like they've pulled it now. I killed the setup.exe process for that update with Process Explorer, then rechecked for updates and it was gone.

    Hung on shutdown for I don't know how long. Forced shutdown and rebooted, went through the same drill. Started to do it again then I remembered Einstein's definition of insanity, so I deselected it, shut down normally, but on that reboot I received a message that one update was being installed, however the ones I manually selected (11, I think.) were all installed with the suspect showing as failed. That's when I received the ZDNetgram about MS pulling it. Is it me, or have they been getting steadily and rapidly worse on the update front?
