I Need Some Guidance With A Windows Update

Generally I have critical and important updates installed automatically, but today I glanced at my updates and noticed there's one that hasn't been installed. It's listed as "Important" which I assumed would have been updated automatically. After looking the KB number up online, I read some posts where people have had issues with this and had to reinstall everything on their computer. Basically I just want to make sure before I install this, that it won't mess up my computer. I copied and pasted the info:

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2934520)

Download size: 71.6 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Recommended

The Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 is a highly compatible, in-place update to the .NET Framework 4, 4.5 and 4.5.1. By using the .NET Framework 4.5.2 together with the C# or Visual Basic programming languages, you can write Windows Store apps. The .NET Framework 4.5.2 delivers better performance, reliability, and security than previous versions. After you install this update, you may have to restart your computer.

I have been to the Microsoft website but I just don't feel confident reading the replies from their team. So I decided to ask you wonderful people instead! Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance!

Okay I went to the linked page you posted (thank you by the way) and it had a different published date, does that matter? The one I referred to in my original post was published on 1/13/2015 and the one in your link was published 5/06/2014. I want to make sure to do everything correctly before I download anything first. If you need more information about what programs are already on my computer I can post it. And thank you so much for getting back to me so fast! :)

Thanks for your help. I downloaded it per your instruction, and everything installed/restarted with no problem. One other question, I have 4 "Optional" updates and wanted to double check if I needed to install thesel. Again, I don't like to just install things all willy nilly since I'm not an advanced computer connoisseur. :)

Generally as a rule, I do not install optional updates especially when it pertains to drivers. If something does go wrong you could easily uninstall the update or do a system restore point. I see no harm installing the 4 you listed above.

Well I looked up the KB3000850 update using the search function on here and saw that it has the potential to cause problems (I don't have AVAST). I've had this laptop since March but I just want to make sure these updates are necessary. Do you recommend I do the update for Intel by going to their website?

Sorry, I should have clarified that the first update I mentioned in my last reply was a Windows update (KB3000850). The second update I mentioned, the Intel one, doesn't have a KB number.

I would hide the Intel - Other hardware make a restore point and install the rest.
