Windows 8.1 wants to update, but it dosent want to as well

I have really come to the final straw where i really just want to break this so called computer.

It all started a few months ago, When all my windows 8.1 apps wouldnt work online and i couldnt use a microsoft account on the computer. I seen that it was windows update and it has alot of updates (around 78 security, etc updates)

This is a gaming laptop ASUS X550L series. Everything in hardware works fine and i bought it brand new. (this year)

Now, When i go to update on "Windows update" i click install and download all. Now, The green bar loads for about 1 second then the "Windows update" dosent respond. Ive tried almost everything and apparently its not common and i tried googleing it everywhere, contacting microsoft (they told me to hit the road) and computer chat sites that told me to leave and contact microsoft. I have alot of files on this computer i dont wanna lose. I dont have the windows 8.1 disc (as i bought this computer brand new without it)

I need to update windows, Thats the main thing here. Ive tried doing small amounts of updates (even doing 1 update at a time even the update is 15kb it wont work) and its just plain stupid.

Again, i bought a computer to use. Ive been trying to solve this all night and ive been up all night trying to find a solution.

The stupid lady where i bought the computer told me to try windows 8.1, Ive never had many problems with windows 7 as windows 8.

Please help, Im very annoyed.

You don't need a Windows 8.1 disk to upgrade to 8.1, it can be done over internet.

You obviously have not read everything i wrote. Read it again. Ive already got windows 8.1 thats not the issue.

A simple "My Windows 8.1 won't update" would have been enough.
Try running sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Tried it all multiple times. Will do a few more time incase anyways.
