I'm not trying to start a "war" in MS Communities - I just wanted to install the Windows Update and was trying (really) to find a solution for the problem. When it was "optional" I wasn't so concerned when I couldn't install it, but when they changed it to "important, I felt I should install it. Now, I guess it's all my problem if it messes up my pc's. You're right, visruth - guess I should close the thread in MS Communities as solved.

Hey John, can you post a screenshot of 'View update history'?
I, and others, had similar issues with this deep seated problem and got it all sorted out by chance somehow. Just trying to figure it all out.

Sure, Edwin. But I don't know how much good it will be, when Bear had me go thru the hoops, one of the scripts reset my history. Here it is....

Btw I tried it in August (#1 date it was offered) again on Sept2 (2nd offering) and again on Sept 9 (3rd offering) None installed.

What are the consequences if I don't ever get this installed? Am I looking at the Microsoft Police coming to my door and taking my pc's?

Seriously, what could be the problems IF I can't install it?

It is not a pre requisite for further updates like as in case of 2919355, so it is nothing to bother about , have to know in depth what all fixes and security fixes it is bringing along with it. Other than these, I don't think no police is coming you

OK - I opened up a Microsoft support case and talked with a technician over an hour (no charge). He did several various tests on my pc - and arrived at this answer. Based on my pc, I should just ignore K2975719 - Microsoft is in the process of correcting this update. He couldn't tell me when it would go away or be corrected so it would install, but stated, I should not worry about it on my pc. I am taking this advice - since I have a Case # and an email from him, I see no need to worry further. I am closing this thread - good riddance. Thanks to all who tried to help - appreciate your efforts and comments.

No charge & troubleshooting completed in 1 hour, that's commendable

I was going to say that it didn't seem like they really did very much for you but I see you are continuing this in the other forum.

Perhaps it is a good thing that you can't get it installed. It seems to still be causing issues. See the popular topic in the other forum about Black Screen after installing it and the other Sept. roll up. I have not installed either and don't plan to at this point.

    This is a public apology.

I guess I am not laid-back enough to deal with pc's sometimes.

To those users who posted and tried to help me in this thread - thanks! I know I wasted some of your time just reading this volume of rants.

Now as to the problem I was having with KB2975719. It was all my creation and I'm so embarrassed.

My other pc has a problem with a delayed startup when App Readiness Service is turned on, so I've found that I need to leave it turned off on a daily basis - UNTIL I install Windows Updates - then it needs to be turned back on. I did everything ok on that pc. And, since I don't normally follow that procedure on this pc, I didn't realize it (App Readiness Service) had been turned off (not in msconfig but in Administative Tools >Services). Why it was turned off, I can't explain, but when I started checking - there it was "disabled". I realized this was all my fault and I'm so sorry.

I immediately enabled App Readiness Service, tried installing the update one more time and VOILA - success. It installed fast and completely. Again, I apologize to all! Just glad I found the answer and can swallow my pride and let you know. Thanks, John
