As a last measure, did you try what you got as advice from MS community, P A Bear was seen posting some steps

No - I'm afraid to - involved some scripts that I am not confident about as well as IE resetting, I just am not comfortable - might create additional problems, who knows?

Hmm..Bear also clearly stated MS won't take the time to fix this - don't know what went through his mind by saying that, maybe this problem is specific to you?

Evidently he doesn't like very many people who have problems and post in there. bru posted "Run away fast would be my advice. IMO he has ruined that forum. I am not sure how he gets away with what he does but he is extremely rude and borderline abusive in his responses"

I think his previous experience with Bear must have been less than cordial also.

I dont know about this guy, yeah after reading some of his responses for many other queries, I dont think a community forum is fit for this guy He's helping many I agree ,

I suggest you backup, create a system image & give the script suggestion a try - May be after all Bear may be trying to help you out in some way

Guess he decided I'm a lost cause - lol!
There's another current thread over there about someone having trouble installing KB2975719. Someone responds saying he doesn't see it being offered anymore and wonderingif it was pulled again. I still see it.

And just so I am clear I haven't even tried to install it. Seems like it is still causing issues. There is a link to another thread about .mov files not running after it is installed.

OK, so I gave in and tried his plan - step by step. Results were the same as before - update downloads, installs, reboots, then backs out the install. All I lost was a couple hours, and my IE settings. No big deal. BUT still no KB2975719 installed and yes, it's still on my Windows Update List to be installed as "important".

Hey, you folks who can't install KB2975719, it doesn't look good. Here is what MS Communities just told me:

"Just to set expectations enough people have installed this update and you are a corner case.

Microsoft won't come up with an automated fix for your case. It's unfortunately a bit of brutal truth"

Sounds like we're out of luck! Definitely something I didn't want to hear.

Totally inappropriate response from a moderator and calling you a "corner case"
